Community Consultative Committee

The first CCC meeting was held at the Biloela Bowls Club on March 2, 2022. Meetings will be held quarterly, and monthly during the construction phase. The Committee is made up of local Council members, landowners, community members, and business owners. Its primary responsibilities are:

  • Provide feedback from the community on the work EDF is conducting.

  • Ask questions about the project on behalf of the community.

  • Manage the community fund.

Community Fund

EDF Renewables has pledged to give $100 000 per year to the local community for legacy projects. The CCC will decide how these funds are distributed to ensure maximum community benefits. Initiatives could include:

  • Community building.

  • Solar or energy improvements.

  • Training and education.

  • Rural Fire Service equipment upgrades.

  • Telecommunications upgrades.

  • Tourist facilities.

Gaangalu Nation People

Kyle Russell, the Queensland Wind Farm Project Director for EDF Renewables Australia, met with the Gaangalu Nation People on Friday 6th May 2022.

EDF Renewables understands the importance of consistent communication with the Traditional Owners of the Banana Range. Kyle provided the GNP with an update on the project and next steps.

Infrastructure Investment

In addition to the Community Fund, the Banana Range Wind Farm is a total investment of $500 million. A large portion of this investment will be dedicated to improving local infrastructure to facilitate construction. This includes:

  • Roads.

  • Bridges.

  • Transmission lines.
